Your Research Essay expands on your Essay Proposal and must list all the references from your
annotated bibliography cited in an appropriate scholarly format, double-space and stapled. The
essay will be eight-pages excluding title page and references.
The Research Essay must be typed with 12 point font, double spaced with 1 inch margins. The
Research Essay must give the full and correct references for the articles/books, etc., cited.
Please, consult for style any current anthropology/sociology journals or books. Students are
expected to use the material from lectures, seminars, films and class participation for the
assignments. Sources (articles and books) other than those provided in the syllabus can be used
as supplement, but not as substitute.

• The topic chosen is Poverty and Health in Canada. The essay proposal is completed as well as the annotated bibliography. Important: Must complete research essay following the essay proposal, and link it with Dennis Raphael chapters, discuss earlier poverty conditions in Canada and your own observations.
