Question 1
There are 5 boxplots (drawn to scale) labelled A through E and several statements each with 3 blanks with may be filled in with up to 3 letters of the box plots that apply to the statement.
Question Two
A random sample of 50 customers in a very popular restaurant was asked how long they should expect to wait to receive their food. The results of this sample were summarized in the following table.
Times (min.) No. of Customers
0 to 2 4
2 to 4 26
4 to 6 13
6 to 8 5
8 to 10 2
Based on these results, estimate the standard deviation in time that these sampled customers said they should expect to wait to receive their meals. (Show your work by completing the above table.) This data set is the same data set as was used in question 3 of assignment 1 so some of the calculations have already been made.
Question Three
In many athletic competitions, athletes compete with other athletes of the same age, same weight, etc. And, after all the winners were chosen in each age category, weight category, etc., one athlete may be chosen as the best athlete in the entire competition. Sam, Taylor and Jordan won their competitions in the their respective weight categories in a weight lifting competition. The following table indicates how much total weight they lifted in the 4 types of weight lifting in the competition, the average amount lifted for all competitors in their category, and, the standard deviation in amounts lifted for all competitors in their category. Which of the competitors should be chosen the best athlete in the entire competition based on the others in their category? (Hint: Base you answer on the standardized scores of these three athletes. (Show your work!)
Category Athlete Weight Lifted Avg. Weight Lifted Std. Dev. in Weight Lifted
A Sam 347 kg 287 kg 45 kg
B Taylor 425 kg 385 kg 52 kg
C Jordan 305 kg 265 kg 27 kg

you could write the solutions on a paper and send me the picture.
