• Write an original research report (excluding the provided Introduction section) based on the provided canned research project. Posted on BeachBoard are: (1) project overview in PDF format and (2) two Excel spreadsheets containing calibration data and the raw/partially processed PAH data. Also, in that folder is a set of Excel tutorial spreadsheets illustrating how to graph/plot data in different formats.
• Your final report will include abstract, results (data), discussion, and conclusion.
• Write your report as if submitting it to a peer-reviewed journal following the iterative style (i.e. per our weekly due dates for each section!).
- References: Support the discussion (interpretation of the results) with scientific literature references. The canned research project provides four (4) “To Learn More” references.
- When writing your R & D, use a minimum of four (4) references in writing your R&D sections; at least one of these four must be a reference you found for this Project; the other three can be from the provided references.
- Audience: Write the report for a scientific audience (e.g., readers knowledgeable in a specific area of science).
- Results & Discussion: (1) write these in the iterative style, (2) the results in an appropriate format (text and at least one graphic, e.g., a table or a figure but no more than three graphics), (3) align left paragraph spacing.
- Conclusion: This should be a separate section.
- Abstract: (1) justify paragraph spacing, (2) write this section last.
