Political scientists know that when growth rates are high in the year leading up to an election, so is support for the incumbent party. Why don’t we then see Democrats get elected to the presidency at much higher rates than Republicans? -In Homer Gets a Tax Cut, Larry Bartels argues that what factor played the largest role in determining support for the Bush Tax Cuts? Why did Bartels see this as problematic? Why did these cuts get popular support amongst the working class, when the benefits disproportionately benefited the upper class?
