Planned Change in an Organization of Social Work

P​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​racticing Planned Change: This is an individual written assignment designed to help explore and practice the use of the steps in a planned change process through the development of a hypothetical program, project, or policy change. In a ~3 page single-spaced paper, students should choose a hypothetical problem to address in a hypothetical organization. Students may choose any social work organization (child welfare agency, schools, mental health agency, foster care, housing, support services, etc) and identify one problem that could hypothetically be encountered in the organization. Problems in organizations might include things like: Difficulty retaining good staff because of high levels of compassion fatigue or burnout Poor or unclear communication between management and staff about expectations Lack of direction and guidance to employees Low employee morale Low client engagement Little or no a​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​vailable feedback from clients Outdated policies and procedures Poor staff training or supervision Client needs not being met Outdated programs or services that need more innovation Lack of diversity among staff Lack of cultural humility or competence among staff Outline actions in each step of the planned change process that you would use to address the problem through the implementation of a program, project, or policy change. Be sure to specify at least one clear goal and objective for your change effort. Students should demonstrate a clear understanding of the steps involved in organizational planned change process (engagement; assessment & planning; implementation & evaluation, and incorporate their learning from text readings and class discussion, with citations, to inform specific action items and considerations in the various steps of this hypothetical organizational change effort​‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍​.
