Marketing Philosophies Porter as well as Miles & Snow in the Methods of Creating Competitive Advantage section of Chapter 3 show different ways IHEs can take an offensive or defensive approach in strategic planning. How do IHEs change their marketing strategies based on their stance in the competitive marketplace? What are the factors IHEs should consider in their marketing and branding based on what is in their strategic plan? 2. ABC University Example Rowley and Sherman (2001) give the real example of ABC University. What are your thoughts concerning the expectations of the Board of Trustees in how the new President should lead ABC University? What are some of the pitfalls the authors (and you) believe could occur in trying to successfully complete all of their strategic initiatives? 3.Mission Statement Identify the mission statements of a few diverse IHEs. What do you see as some of the common threads that run through them? Your thoughts/comments about them?
