My earliest impression of the medical field occurred a few years ago, when my grandfather was diagnosed with an inoperable
brain cancer known as “Glioblastoma”. The death of my beloved grandfather has played a significant role in my decision to
become a physician. I was at first, devastated, as I began to understand for the first time in my life, just how fragile
and precious our lives are. This sparked a respect for a doctor’s ability to ease suffering, as well as how, as a doctor, I
will be in a prime position to contribute to helping people, make decisions that will change their outlook on life and live
healthier lives. Since the time of my grandfather’s death, I have begun doing extensive research regarding this particular
illness, its diagnosis and remedies. Since that day, I have set my goals to possibility of finding a cure for cancer and I
hereby dedicate the use of my skills to achieve this vision.
Educators teach and lead young people toward success as legislators draft policies that improve processes for their
constituents. Also, professional chess players commit themselves to extensive study and practice to master the skills of
their profession. In addition, medicine has always been my primary career choice. As a future doctor, I see myself
incorporating three aspects. First, to master the skills of illness diagnosis. Second, to work to improve the processes of
medical practices. Third, to treat as well as educate my patients in following a suitable healthy lifestyle.
Naturally, at this point my education is my primary concern. However, the study of medicine is a challenge in and of
itself. Studying medicine requires a set of skills: patience, extensive study, research and practice. Nonetheless, what is
interesting about studying medicine is its continuity – we can all contribute. Medicine develops everyday through advanced
studies and new techniques. We are constantly learning new ways of controlling the formation of diseases in order to
prevent future illnesses.
The most important part of studying medicine and becoming a doctor is taking care of my patients, trying to prolong their
lives and keeping them happy. I am a person who believes an essential part of that is education. At school, more education
translates into better opportunities; on the other hand, more knowledge leads to greater control over one’s situations. In
healthcare, profound patient education can do the same. I have witnessed throughout my many visits to hospitals, how
doctors speak to their patients in a friendly, clear, and efficient manner. Those examples have inspired me to set specific
goals in my life. As a future doctor, I hope to refine these skills and thereby encourage my future patients to be in
control of their health.
In addition, I am an ambitious and goal-oriented person carrying a clear objective of my future. At a young age, my parents
taught me how to be responsible and independent . My school also has played a major role in teaching me the importance of
developing these qualities. My motivation, passion and dedication combined, have been the major force behind my scholastic
success and achievements. For this reason, I have chosen this path to pursue my academic goal of studying medicine.
Growing up, I was passionate about becoming a competitive swimmer. I wanted to swim well so I could compete. To pursue that
goal, I did extensive research and reviewed countless hours of videos. Next, I practiced consistently in order to learn all
the right techniques to maximize my speed. Today, my quest differs; however, I am applying the same principles. I will
become a successful doctor with extensive study and practice. Therefore, my primary goal is to be a modest, sincere,
honest, and well respected doctor.
Beyond elements of practice, policy, and education, I am drawn to medicine for another reason. Everyday I witness many
patients that have been diagnosed with severe illnesses . I want to be a part of that field where I can help these people
and make communities a safe place. Nonetheless, what I find fascinating about medicine is the fact that new developments
and new theories are formed on a daily basis.
In conclusion, I believe that medicine is a rewarding field. I am looking forward to thriving in it, and becoming an
integral part of it. Thus, I believe that this field will offer me the opportunity to be trained in a well-constructed and
ministered atmosphere with professionals who seek the success of their students. I believe that medicine is the appropriate
career for me to pursue in life. Therefore, practicing in this field will help me have the opportunity to become a
committed and skillful doctor.
