Peer Teaching Preparation
Order Description
Design and develop an evidence-based teaching plan for a peer teaching session you will be conducting
in the clinical laboratories for 1st year students in week eight (8) (week 9 at Clayton Campus). The
session involves teaching vital signs assessment (TPR, Pulse Oximetry and BP). There are 4 parts to this
peer teaching plan:-
Part 1 - Introduction (approx. 800 words)
o Introduction
o Pre-teaching considerations
• Learning theory used to guide the teaching session
• Target audience – identification of student learning needs
• Learning styles to be considered in the approach to learning
• Description of the teaching/learning context and clinical learning environment
Make sure you link the content to evidence and reference accordingly.
Part 2 - Lesson plan (approx. 700 words)
o Introduction & Aims
o Intended learning objectives for the teaching session (written in bullet points)
o Lesson outline, including stages (set, body and closure) and resources (formatted as a table)
• Teaching and learning activities/methods
• Timeframes
• Learning resources
• Closure of session
Part 3 – Evaluation considerations (approx. 700 words)
