Thematic Grouping
I will be using the Clinical Targets thematic grouping offered by Switzer and Rubin. This thematic grouping focuses on the specific problems that the client is experiencing and the goals that the client wants to achieve. The Clinical Targets thematic grouping is atheoretical, meaning that it can be used with any counseling theory.
Counseling Theory
The counseling theory that I will be using is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented therapy that focuses on changing the client’s thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. CBT is a well-established and effective therapy for a variety of mental health problems, including anxiety, depression, and stress.
