Leader/managers are faced with navigating complex organizational ethics scenarios on a
routine basis. Senate Bill 1146, the Equity in Higher Education Act, was recently voted upon
in the state of California. The original intention of the bill was to preclude faith based higher
education institutions from discriminating hiring practices based on sexual orientation.
ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

1. Read the chaptered version of SB 1146, Lara. Discrimination: Postsecondary
   Education. Also review any other resources on this issue.
2. Analyze the supporting and opposing perspectives on the issue, as well as accounts
   from advocates pro and con.
3. Examine worldviews and other perspectives.
4. Prepare a strategy for addressing the dilemma from a management and leadership
   perspective.
