Nursing Research Methods

statistical process include gathering the data, organizing the data, and lastly analyzing the data utilizing statistical tests that meet the assumptions of the data.
• There are two types of statistics: descriptive and inferential.
• There are two types of inferential statistics terms: parametric and nonparametric.
• Parametric tests are more powerful than nonparametric tests due to meeting the assumptions of probability sampling, data that is normally distributed, and levels of measurement that are interval or ratio.
• Qualitative data analysis requires that words are analyzed by managing, organizing, and arranging the data to allow for interpretation of the patterns and themes.
This week we reviewed basic statistical concepts used in quantitative research analysis and some methods used for data analysis. We reviewed the following statistical concepts:
• Normal Curve
• Confidence intervals
• Type I Error
• Type II Error
• Power
• One and two-tailed tests
• Descriptive Statistics
• Inferential Statistics
• Significance Level and p value
• r value
