New York Times Analysis

Description

Directions
Go to the Room for Debate (https://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate) section of the New York Times and look for a debate that concerns a policy issue that we have covered in Modules 1-3.
Choose from: Poverty, Voting Rights, Civil Rights, Economic Inequality

Then, do the following:

Summarize the gist of the debate by identifying the issue, and summarizing what each of the discussants has to say. Be sure to identify the debaters/discussants when you present their argument.

Your initial post must also clearly identify the issue in question in your textbook (chapter, page), and should then discuss how the debate relates to the discussion in your textbook.

Does the debate agree or disagree in part or wholly with your book?

Does it extend and add to what is covered in the book in any way?

Be sure that you follow these guidelines:

The initial post for this prompt MUST be at least 400 words.
Be sure to provide in-text citations for the material you cite. Provide the complete citation at the bottom of the post.

Reply to two of your classmates on different days of the week. When you do so, you must look up additional information on the policy issue that they identify. This information should come from either a policy website, a government website, a peer reviewed journal, or a textbook that specifically focuses on social welfare policies.

Once the initial post is completed, I will add the post that needs to be responded to as well as extending the contract and adding funds for the additional work. Each reply for this prompt MUST be at least 250 words. Please provide both in-text citations and a complete reference at the end of each post.
