New School Vision Project

Description

New School Vision Project
EDUC 310 C: Experience Inquiry
Presentations: Monday, June 3rd (during class)
Final Reflections Due: Monday, June 10th; 150 Points total (submit in two parts)

You were tapped to create a new school in the Seattle area. A mix of public and private dollars will support you with total freedom to create something new from the ground up. You are encouraged, if you wish, to move beyond traditional school policies and practices in support of your vision for what you believe students should know, feel, and be able to do today. You get to choose the age range(s) your school will serve.

In order to move the project forward, you’ve been asked to present your new school model at the next community meeting (June 3rd). Seven representatives will attend your 10-minute presentation and ask questions at the end (5 minutes). Your goal with the presentation is to get everyone excited about supporting your school moving forward.

You are free to present however you feel works best to clearly communicate your school’s vision and generate interest in supporting your school.

Assessment:
1) Upload your completed New School Vision Design (50 possible points)

2) After presenting to your community group and reading through the peer feedback, write a two to three-page reflection (100 possible points) in answer to the following prompts:

• What is your own assessment of your presentation?
• What piece(s) of feedback were the most helpful to you, and why? (please quote directly from feedback sheets)
• What might you do differently if you were to present again, and why?
• What elements of your school model might you change or reconsider after hearing from the community group?
• What questions are you left with?
