The methods paper contains the following sections.
Introduction: Restate the purpose of your study, and identify the research method you are using and your
rationale for using it. Explain how the proposed design will accomplish the goals of your study.
Data Needed: For each research question/sub-question, discuss what data you need in your hands in order to
answer it.
Data Collection Procedures: Explain your population and sampling plan, the instruments you will use to collect
your data (i.e., surveys, interviews, observation, etc .), and include a copy of the instrument in the appendix.
Explain how you will protect human subjects (i.e., informed consent, and include the invitation to participate
and IRB application in the appendix). Explain how you will ensure validity and reliability of your study.
Data Analysis Plan: Explain in detail how you will analyze your data once you have collected it (i.e., statistical
procedures, or how to code qualitative data, etc.)
