Movie Review Term Paper

Movie Review Term Paper Order Description Directions This assignment should be the equivalent of 4 typed pages (1-inch margins, double-spaced, 10-12 pt font, Arial or similar.) Your paper must contain these 5 sections: Section 1: Introduction Watch a movie that has significant family themes. Include the name of the movie, the setting, the main characters, and a short summary/plot of the movie. Section 2: Incorporate 20 terms Cite and describe at least 20 examples from the film that relate to key concepts and/or terms or theories that we have discussed this semester. You will need to define the terms and apply them to examples from the movie. Here is an example from the movie "Father of the Bride" Both George and Nina display themselves as 17 - validating types in Gottman's Conflict Types (Galvin, Bylund, & Brommel, 2012). They try to find compromises and they respect one another's point of view. George is a great example of a parent who is struggling to cope with the 18 - "Empty Nest" (Galvin et. al. 2012, p. 283) model which suggests that one of the parents is having difficulty letting the children go. The parent has a hard time transitioning from the parent-child to the adult-adult relationship. I don't want you to simply list the term, I want you to integrate the concept into your movie review You must number and underline or bold each term so I can clearly see you used all 20). Section 3: Turning points and Therapy use (a.) Describe at least 3 important turning points in the film, these should be important scenes that reveal character & family development (b.) What are the implications for family therapists, what would they glean from watching the movie or important concepts they could impart on their clients? This section should be separate from section 2. Section 4: Pros & Cons and the Media (a.) Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the movie. (b.) What are your views of media portrayals of families? You will need to discuss how the media portrays families in general in movies, not how families are portrayed in the particular film you choose. Section 5: APA (a.)Integrate material from BOTH textbooks and “lectures” throughout your paper and cite them APA style. (b) You must cite your sources in a reference page in APA style at the end of your paper (make sure to cite the movie as well). ********Movie ideas for 4D Term paper********** These are merely suggestions; feel free to pick another movie that relates to families that is not on this list. ===Changes Impacting the Family A River Runs Through It American Beauty Father of the Bride (I or II) Four Weddings and a Funeral Fried Green Tomatoes Meet the Family Moonstruck Parenthood Rainman Something to Talk About Steel Magnolias The Bridges of Madison County The Piano ==Traumatic Events Impacting the Family (illness, loss of a family member, accident).
