This article examines a mother’s affection for her child and her demonstration of that affection (publicly of course!). do the following:
First, give your professional and personal opinions of the mother’s words and actions. Of course Sigmund Freud’s views come to mind immediately, but the critical question remains: Are her behaviors and thoughts acceptable from a psychological viewpoint? Or perhaps she is just being an overly affectionate mother who has no problem openly demonstrating that affection. Many psychologists would state that something is clearly not right here. Or is it??
In one to two paragraphs, first discuss your views on the mother’s behavior from a professional (this should be the majority of your response) and a personal perspective. You are not required to use Freud’s theory to answer the question. Second, pick a theorist and briefly analyze the situation in the article. Again, you may use Freud, Skinner, Bowlby, or someone else. Finally, in one sentence, if you were the parent, how would you act towards your opposite sex child (all of your “children” are the same age as the boy in the article) in public?
