Modern Period Philosophy

Order Description

This is a philosophy paper, so can you provide me a writer who is good at philosophy, or at least has some knowledge about philosophy. In the paper, please write your response to the following questions (you have to read the documents i provide and your answers will have to base on that). You do not need to cite anything outside of course reading. If you do cite something, the source and page number are sufficient. Please be careful, dont use too much out side sources because my teacher is very strict about that, he prefers opinions then using sourcing in the response
Question 1)

Explain the progression from Descartes to Hume to Kant and the continued influence this has today. In your response, also include the following: What was unique about Descartes and his style of philosophy and how has it continued to influence philosophers since? Highlight the ways in which Descartes influenced Hume and Kant in your response. Evaluate to what degree Hume’s skepticism is valid, and in what ways, if any, it is invalid. Be specific. How is Kant’s system a response to Humean skepticism? What aspects of Descartes thought are still exhibited in Kant? To what degree does Kant provide a satisfactory response to Hume, and where does he fail to provide adequate justification? Use specific examples from the course reading.

Question 2)

Explain Hegel’s Master-Slave dialectic by setting it within its historical context and evaluating its influence and impact today. In your response, include the following: In what ways is Hegel’s thought a development out of Kant’s? In what ways is it entirely distinct? What exactly is the Master-Slave dynamic. In what ways did it influence Marx and in what ways did Marx differentiate himself from Hegel? Did Hegel’s dialectic impact the views of Nietzsche? If yes, how; if not, why not? Does Hegel’s dialectic continue to impact the world? Cite an example (it can be as trivial as a tv or movie reference, or as large as a governmental system) and evaluate to what extent it utilizes Hegel. If you do not believe it has this influence, evaluate why you think it has failed to have a sustained influence.

Question 3)

Compare and contrast the various ethical and political theories studied in class and evaluate how each theory would address the following ethical dilemma:

A runaway trolley is barreling down upon 10 unsuspecting adults. You cannot warn the adults, but you can reach the switch in time to switch the track of the trolley, but doing so would send the trolley into a young child unknowingly playing on the tracks. Do you act in order to save ten people, but by acting kill a child, or do you do nothing and allow the trolley to kill the ten people?

In your response, tell me how each theorist would respond and explain your answer (why would following this theory lead to that response). Your response cannot be to race ahead of the trolley to save everyone/warn anyone. That’s not an option here (let’s say you’ve broken your leg and have laryngitis). Your response should include responses from at least 4 of the following Hobbes, Locke, Kant, Mill, Aristotle, Plato, and Nietzsche
