To be clear, you are expected to draft three proposals on three different topics- one proposal for each topic. For instance:
Proposal 1: How to have more efficient and effective staff meetings
Proposal 2: What kind of cyber security should the office institute?
Proposal 3: What is the best way to go about in-house ethics training to avoid lawsuit risk from client or employees?
the purchase of new computers
stress management
restructuring office files
motivation for staff
CLE’s for legal assistant’s in the office
a new billing system
optimum functioning for law office staff
Requirements for the proposals:
You must use the memo format.
Each proposal must be at least two pages in length
Be clear and concise in your proposal.
Be specific about the reasons you think your proposal would benefit the law office.
Anticipate the law office partners possible and probable objections and questions.
You must research and report on the research in journals like Legal Assisting Today or valid Internet sites and research as to how other firms are benefitting from implementing proposals like yours.
Discuss the pros and cons of the proposal idea. Research how much it will cost to implement the idea in your firm.
Incorporate a clear plan and timetable for actually implementing the proposed idea in your law firm.
Be as thorough as you can in describing your proposal and in developing a plan to implement it.
You will be using the law firm you have created for the above assignments as a fictional basis for your proposal and the partners to whom you are proposing the idea. The research and the budget will of course be factual.
You must include a bibliography or a page delineating where you found the information on which to base your proposal.
You must use at least three outside sources for each memo.
You may consult actual people such as law office administrator, paralegals, lawyers, sales reps from law office product companies or other consultants. Be sure if you do interview people, that you tell me their name, title, company or firm, address, phone number and email address in your resource list.
