The example of Fracking has been used to illustrate the idea of local control in Texas, since it has spurred the
most controversy over the past couple of years -- but it is not the only example of this debate. Do some
research on your own and find an article about a similar debate regarding another, different issue. What issue
is up to you, just be sure it's a point of debate within Texas and relates in some way to the division of powers
between national/state or state/local (or all of the above) levels of government. (Some ideas: guns, schools,
health care, immigration, bathrooms, civil rights, voting rights, and many, many others.)
Post a link to the article you found and discuss 3 things: First, you should outline the issue well enough that
your classmates get an idea of what the issue is all about (about a paragraph). Second, explain what
governments or levels of government are in conflict over the issue (about a paragraph). Third and finally,
explain which level you think should have the final say -- or, who should be in control over that issue -- and, of
course, why you see it that way.
