2) While reading the story you have chosen, make annotations in the margins or on another sheet of
paper.
The annotations should consist of questions about names, places, or ideas; connections that you find
between characters in the story and other familiar literary works or famous characters, or relationships
between places or ideas; parallels you see in the structuring of the story; and “discoveries” that help to
answer questions you have related to the story.
