Literacy narrative
Order Description
A literacy narrative is a genre of writing that tells about the writer’s experience learning to read or write. This experience can be positive, negative, or neutral but should bare some importance to the writer. A literacy narrative should include a well-told story, a firsthand account, and an indication of the narrative’s significance.
Your literacy narrative will be a well-crafted description of your own individual experience as a beginning reader or writer. When drafting your essay, consider these questions:
? Am I someone who identifies him or herself as an avid reader? What about my early experiences as a reader lead me to still enjoy reading today?
? Do I write at home for pleasure? As I child, was I the sort of person who wrote stories or poems for fun or family members?
? Do I avoid reading whenever possible? Why am I uncomfortable, or bored, with something I do daily?
? Do I readily identify myself with the terms “reader” or “writer”? Why? Why not?
The narrative should be written in Times New Roman, 12-point font and double-spaced.
It will be between 750 and 1000 words.
It shall be turned in IN CLASS and ON MOODLE the day it is due.
