How does the active listening and managing conflict material we discussed in class relate to this video? We
all tend to identify with either the conservative or liberal side of the political spectrum. Did this video give
you a different perspective on the other viewpoint? Why or why not? The mediator of the discussion in this
video was effective getting the two sides to at least understand the other. Would this sort of conflict
resolution technique be successful in more nuanced conflicts or is it only useful in broader, more
generalized issues such as political affiliation?

Muhammad Ali and Malcolm X were outspoken, prominent leaders during their time. What do you think
about their ideas on liberalism, culture, and relationships? A lot of people who didn't identify with the
causes Ali and Malcolm X espoused routinely disregarded their messages as propaganda and nonsense.
Much has changed, socially, since the 1960's. Are their messages still relevant or are they nonsense when
looked back on from today?
