Liberal Arts Education

In the ancient world the term “liberal arts” referred to the education appropriate for free people(opposed to slaves). In modern American higher education that focuses on general rather than vocational knowledge. Proponents believe that a liberal arts education is valuable because it prepares students for life by teaching them how to think. Opponents contend that the study of topics unrelated to one’s professional path is a waste of time. Is a liberal arts education worthwhile? Develop your position by using evidence from your own experience, observations, or reading.
