Leveraging the long Tail

Leveraging the long Tail Description As a blogger you will identify web 2.0 platforms and evaluate each against a set of assessment criteria corresponding to the Web 2.0 concept discussed in the previous lecture. This evaluation will be published as a weekly blog. You are to publish your blog on an external platform of your choice (we recommend www.blogger.com). You are to adopt the role of a Web 2.0 consultant who is sharing your knowledge with the profession. For the purposes of this exercise a Web 2.0 platform is a social or collaborative platform or organisation that exhibits or can potentially exhibit some or all of the Web 2.0 concepts that we cover in the lectures. Requirements: Each weekly blog is to be between 300-500 words (comments or comments on others’ blog entries excluded). Your post may include: ? An overview of the platform and its relevance to the current concept of the week. ? Comparisons with other web 2.0 platforms ? A critical and strategic assessment of the implications of the platform within different contexts ? A range of issues including legal and ethical, associated with the use of the platform ? Future directions of the platform. No single platform can be assessed for more than one concept. You are to avoid the examples used in class, and in particular avoid the following platforms: Google, Amazon, Flickr, Youtube, Twitter, and Facebook. Naturally, these platforms can still be referred to (e.g. perhaps as part of a comparison) but they should not form part of a major discussion in your assignment.
