Select one of the following essay prompts and develop a 4 – 5 page essay using Letter from Birmingham Jail, Letter from the Clergymen, and one other source (3 or more sources) to discuss your viewpoint:
1) How do we, as a society, define an unjust law, and what kinds of strategies and tactics have proven most effective in changing such laws? If we are able to abolish legal injustice will it necessarily result in social justice?
2) Anthropologist Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Support, refute, or modify this statement based on specific evidence from the history of the civil rights movement.
