Lean Process Improvement Project Plan

This activity uses project management software (ProjectLibre) to create a project plan for your process improvement project. Use ProjectLibre to create a project plan for your project. Your project plan must include the following:

• High-Level Summary Task that includes all tasks in the project as subtasks
• The following four phases with summary tasks, sub-tasks, and milestones:
o Define phase
o Measure phase
o Analyze phase
o Improve phase
• You must have a minimum of four tasks under each of the phases. You can find what types of tasks belong in the phases in your D2L content.
• Remember you are creating the following deliverables that need to be documented in your plan. Therefore, you must have the following tasks in your project plan embedded within the correct DMAIC project phase:
o Create an “As-is” process map
o Create SIPOC of the current process
o Create a “Future-State” process map
o Create Cause & Effect Diagram
• Resources must be assigned to all detail level tasks
• Summary level tasks must not have resources assigned
• All phases must be appropriately linked through prerequisite relationships in a logical relationship.

Use reasonable project dates to get all your work submitted by the deadlines established in D2L for each of the above deliverables.

Submit your ProjectLibre project document (*.pod file) to the appropriate dropbox in D2L.

The grading criteria
The project plan is in the correct format and fulfills all of the project requirements including:
• High level project summary task
• Final project complete milestone
• Correct indenting structure
• Feasible task dates.
• Define Phase defined with at least 4 reasonable and feasible tasks including required tasks.
• Measure Phase defined with at least 4 reasonable and feasible tasks including required tasks.
• Analyze Phase defined with at least 4 reasonable and feasible tasks including required tasks.
• Improve Phase defined with at least 4 reasonable and feasible tasks including required tasks.
• All phases and tasks are linked together with appropriate prerequisite assignments.
• All detail tasks have a resource assigned and no summary or milestone tasks have resources assigned.

An example is provided below. Each phase does not have the minimum number of tasks in the example. You must have a minimum of four tasks under each phase.
