Leadership Development Plan

One way to develop leaders within your organization is to create individual Leadership
Development Plans for your emerging leaders. Use the sample development plan
provided in the Learning Activity entitled Developing a Leadership Development Plan
as a guide for completing this formative assessment.
Using the information from Formative 1 in which you identified an area of leadership
development to focus on, create an outline for a leadership development plan. You will
expand on this information in the summative assessment for this competency.
Generate an outline for your specific leadership development plan or for someone else
in a similar position. In this outline, you will:
● Identify the adult learning theories that will be utilized in the plan
● Describe how organizational culture plays a role

Keywords for Database Search:

  • Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBI)
  • Anxiety
  • Chronic Illness
  • Adults

Databases in Walden Library (Examples):

  1. CINAHL Complete
  2. PsycINFO
  3. PubMed/MEDLINE
  4. Academic Search Premier

Finding Relevant Research Articles:

Using the keywords above, search each database and limit your results to "peer-reviewed" articles and "original research" (not systematic reviews). Aim to find at least four relevant articles from different sources.

Reflecting on Unfiltered Databases:

  • Unfiltered databases contain a vast amount of information, including scholarly and non-scholarly sources. Filtering by "peer-reviewed" articles helps ensure the credibility and quality of the research you find.
  • Using relevant keywords refines your search and focuses the results on your specific clinical inquiry.

Identifying Research Methodologies:

Once you have your four articles, review them to identify the research methodologies employed. Here are some common types you might encounter:

  • Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT): Considered the gold standard, RCTs assign participants randomly to either an intervention group (receiving MBI) or a control group (receiving usual care) to compare outcomes.
  • Cohort Study: Observational study following a group of people over time, comparing those who receive MBI to those who don't, to assess the impact on anxiety levels.
  • Quasi-Experimental Study: Similar to a controlled trial, but participants are not randomly assigned to groups. This could involve comparing pre- and post-intervention anxiety levels in a group receiving MBI.
  • Phenomenological Study: Explores the lived experiences of people with anxiety and how MBI might influence them. This typically involves qualitative data collection through interviews.
