Leader Interview

You will interview someone you view as a leader, do an analysis of their leadership behavior based on the

class matenal you've learned, and provide recommendations. This paper should be written as a business

report that is similar to something you might actuaily turn in at work.

The purpose of this paper is as follows:

  • Practice analytical thinking. Recognize business problems and produce viable solutions based on

tesearch and class discussion.

  • Develop communication skills for a business audience. Utilize written communication to synthesize

and present information.

  • Grow your network. Asking a professional for help allows you to spend time with an experienced

person in your field. Use this opportunity to develop a relationship that may help you build your career,

learn something specific to your goals, and perhaps find a professional mentor.

Interview procedure

Please identify a leader of an organization with at least two followers to interview. Schedule a time to meet

with them. The interview will typically take 30 minutes to an hour, so please schedule accordingly. It is

polite to send at least a sample of the interview questions ahead of time so that the leader has some idea

of what you'll be talking about. Please ask the leader to sign the consent form at the end of this document

before you begin your leader. A Skype or phone interview is acceptable, and you may ask the leader for an

electronic signature if you do not meet in person. If you decide to record the interview in any way (such as

a voice recorder application on your phone), you must inform the leader and ask for their verbal consent to

be recorded at the beginning of the interview. If the leader says no, be prepared to take notes.

Interview questions

You will develop a series of interview questions that must be included in the appendix of the paper. Think

about which class topics you want to discuss in your paper.
