What are some of the ways this problem can be addressed and remediated?
Part 2: Write a 5 sentence response on your thought to this example answer:
"Unfortunately, we see the discrimination and bias of race and ethnicity within our criminal justice system more often than not due to the rising attention through the media. Today, it is almost impossible to not have these debates in our nation, as social media has given anyone that wants one a platform to display their thoughts about any topic. These opinions that are spread so freely into society ultimately have an effect on the system, as individuals are easily influenced. As the negativity between race and the criminal justice system grows, we also have to think about the discussion that is to be had about mental health and the criminal justice system. Although mental health issues and the system seem to be linked together in many ways, we have to look at the bigger picture. The individuals that carry out the criminal justice system have a huge influence on how things are handled and run. These people hold their opinions and ways of going about things from things they have learned or were exposed to earlier in life. If we start with bringing awareness and exposure on the issue of mental health prevalent in society today at a younger age when children are school, then we could hopefully create a generation more educated on these topics. Therefore, they will be able to make more intelligent decisions and make opinions of their own."
