Invisible Disabilities Invisible disabilities are disabilities that are not immediately visible to others. This can include conditions such as chronic pain, mental illness, learning disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder. People with invisible disabilities often face challenges that are not experienced by people with visible disabilities. These challenges can include:
  • Being disbelieved or dismissed by others. Because their disabilities are not visible, people with invisible disabilities may be told that they are faking their symptoms or that they are not really disabled. This can be very invalidating and can make it difficult to get the support they need.
