Introduction to Effective Program Planning Worksheet,

Introduction to Effective Program Planning Worksheet, Week 2 - Introduction to Effective Program Planning Worksheet Effective Program Planning begins with identifying a problem and understanding the need based on gaps in services.  Using this information, you can develop a program theory and program design. The program theory explains WHY a program is expected to work (Posavac, 2011).  The “why” is determined by reviewing similar programs to determine what has and has not worked, and what changes should be made to make the program more effective. Determining the theory behind the program helps staff effectively plan and administer a program (inputs and outputs), and achieve outcomes. And it helps evaluators evaluate the value, merit and worth of the program. The program design is the intervention to fill the gaps in services and meet the unmet need. For this assignment, you will be conducting a needs assessment to understand the various research tools available, and to identify additional resources that may be needed to complete your needs assessment, program theory, and program design. Team Members that completed this assignment    Alster Watters, Jeremaine Santiago, Judy Sarmiento, Lydia McClain, and Randy GreerPopulation    Veterans City or County    San Diego Research Question    Have there been an increasing number of homeless and unemployed Veterans in the San Diego area, or has the issue normalized?List your assumptions related to the unmet needs of the selected population (from Week 1)    An uncertain number of Veterans discharged from the service are unemployed and homeless. Connecting these veterans with the resources necessary to address these issues is an important step in ensuring they receive the help they need. Many Veterans returning from combat face some real barriers; PTSD, and substance abuse to name a few. Question 1: Complete the following table for the Needs Assessment.  If you are unable to locate a resource for any of the Data Categories/Elements, please enter “Unable to Locate” in the “Resource” field. Research Completed Data Category/Element (Identified in Week 1 and using instructor feedback)    Resource    What did you learn? Unemployment Rate Veterans Over the Age 55 : 11.4% in 2015      http://www.sdshrm.org/?page=CTAP Older Veterans have increased difficulty in San Diego finding employment Unemployment Rate Veterans 18-34: Latest Data to be found as of 2014: 14.6%    http://workforce.org/news/county-unemployment-rate-remains-unchanged-7-percent 16% of San Diego veterans are between the ages of 18- and 34. From 2013-2014 the unemployment rate dropped significantly (from 16.6 percent to 14.6 percent) Unemployment Rate Veterans 18-24: Latest Data to be found as of 2014: 6.2%    http://workforce.org/news/county-unemployment-rate-remains-unchanged-7-percent From 2013-2014 the unemployment rate dropped significantly for 18-24-year-olds; from 11.4 percent to 6.2 Unemployment Rate Veterans: Male 6.75% 2013    http://workforce.org/news/veteran-unemployment-post-911-vets-still-struggle-find-work There is a disparity between Male and Female Veterans unemployment Rates In San Diego Unemployment Rate Veterans: Female 8.0% 2013    http://workforce.org/news/veteran-unemployment-post-911-vets-still-struggle-find-work There is a disparity between Male and Female Veterans unemployment Rates In San Diego Homeless Veterans San Diego: 2014 Total: 1307    http://www.rtfhsd.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/RHP-2014_FINAL_12-4-14_Veteran.pdf There are 1307 homeless veterans in San Diego as 2014 that are accounted for. Within that number falls a myriad of categories. Question 2: Based on what you learned through the research, have the “assumptions of the unmet needs” been confirmed? Additional unmet needs discovered? Please describe below: Assumptions of Unmet Needs of the Selected Population (list from Week 1)     Confirmed (Y/N) Additional Unmet Needs Discovered During Research Question 3: For “unable to locate” Data Categories/Elements and “Additional Unmet Needs”: how will this affect your program theory development and program design planning process? Question 4: What resources (including partners, additional staff, additional research, etc.) do you anticipate needing to complete your needs assessment, program theory development and your program design planning process? Be specific why the resources are needed. Question 5: What are the preliminary evaluation measures you will incorporate in your proposal based on the needs assessment and program theory? Preliminary Measures    Why It Should Be Measured 39. Doesnt fit her ( wrote it in the other instruction box) Project description the topic is: With respect to all the material on the blog: In thinking about how Christian monks have themselves spoken about prayer and the spiritual life, consider this: how does lectio divina seem to be similar to, and yet different from, the Orthodox practice of hesychastic prayer that is discussed in the video clip on the blog? What seems to be the point of each practice? Each of your responses should be approximately 500 words; approximately 500 words means a minimum of 400 words and no more than 600 words. what the professor wants: I ask you a weekly response question for two reasons. First, I want you to formalize some of your thoughts about what you watched in each weeks lecture and read in the assigned readings. Second, I want to foster student commentary on the course lectures and readings. The TAs who mark your responses will send me some of the more intriguing ones each week and I will post them (with names redacted) in the comments section under the weekly post for each week. These response questions are not a way for you to express your like or dislike of something, or for you to say that you thought the lecture and readings for the week were interesting or boring. While I do hope you like the readings and lectures and find them interesting, in your weekly responses you will be asked to demonstrate how you have thought about, questioned, and analyzed the materialnot just whether you liked it or not. What I am looking for in your responses is essentially a few well-structured and succinct paragraphs. This is an exercise in getting a few brief points across clearly and concisely. Each response will be marked on a 3-point scale. 3 An outstanding response that demonstrates superior engagement with the course materials. The response clearly and concisely responds to the question (or prompt) and supplements its points with cogent analysis and/or examples drawn from the readings/lecture.
