Pretend to have interviewed a coach of any sport. Make up the coach's name and say they are at shiloh high
school. Pretend this was either a face to face call meeting or video call
Requirements: This interview should be a narrative. Do not type it up as a question and answer paper.
• Be sure to include all pertinent information about the coach you are interviewing: who, where, what sport(s),
what age athletes, at what time of their season are they currently, at what competitive level, how long has
person been in coaching?
• Please do not interview a member of your family, a roommate or a close friend. Do include information about
how you know or selected this coach.
• How does this coach describe his/her coaching philosophy and coaching style?
Who are his/her role models?
What was his/her pathway to coaching, how did he/she come to be in their current coaching role?
What does he/she believe to be the most difficult part(s) of his/her coaching?
What does he/she believe to be the most rewarding part(s )of his/her coaching?
What types of things does this coach do to improve personally in his/her knowledge of their sport?
What does he/she believe to be the best way to motivate young athletes?
What are some examples of difficult situations he/she has had to handle in coaching?
What is/are his/her primary goal(s) for his/her athletes and what advice would he/she offer a first time coach?
• There are many other questions you might ask, plan a few before you meet the
coach for the interview.
