International Transportation: Transportation and port security

Many people dont understand the importance of transportaiton modes when it comes to international trade. Different modes of transportation such as Planes, Ships, rails, and trucks are use to transport products from point A to point B, sometimes across a single country, and in other across continents. What many don't realize is that these modes need to be efficient and secure, and the same goes for international port as products come in an out of a country while keeping in mind the security of the people and the product being transported. Are modern transportaiton modes and port facilities doing enough to guarantee the safe transportation of products while guaranteeing the safety of the people?
