Here are some specific examples of how I have integrated the information introduced in the course and applied it to my existing experiences:

• In one of my courses, I learned about the impact of poverty on health. I was particularly interested in the fact that people living in poverty are more likely to experience chronic diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes. I decided to do a research project on this topic and found that poverty can have a number of negative effects on health, including:

  • Increased stress levels
  • Reduced access to healthy food
  • Increased exposure to environmental hazards
  • Limited access to healthcare

• I also learned about the importance of healthy food marketing in my course. I was surprised to learn that unhealthy food marketing is often targeted at children and adolescents. I decided to start a campaign at my local school to raise awareness about the dangers of unhealthy food marketing. We created posters and flyers that were distributed to students and parents. We also held a presentation on the topic of healthy eating.

For example, I have helped patients to find affordable housing, apply for food stamps, and get access to healthcare.
