Title of Project: Key Hitting Statistics Associated with Offensive Output in Baseball and Softball

Rationale for the Study: It is important to understand the key factors associated with offensive output in baseball and softball to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of a lineup. etc…… So on and so forth

Research Questions: (must have at least 4 research questions)

1. To what extent does age impact on base percentage for baseball and softball players?
2. Are key offensive statistics for baseball and softball players similar?
3. etc… so on and so forth

Variables and Definitions:

Categorical (factor) Variables: (must have at least 4 categorical variables)

1. Age – Age of the Individual
2. Gender – Gender of the Individual
3. Handedness – Left Handed or Right Handed
4. etc… so on and so forth
   Measured (numeric) Variables: (must have at least 10 measured variables)
5. RBI – Runs Batted In
6. OBP – On Base Percentage
7. XBH – Extra Base Hits
8. etc… so on and so forth

Part 2 – Dataset – 50 Points

Please create a dataset in Excel containing a minimum of 1000 data points and save it as a .csv file for submission. The dataset should have enough rows and columns of data to support your final:

• 4 or more research questions
• 4 or more categorical variables
• 10 or more measured variables
