A client company has asked you to research and recommend a Disaster Recovery solution for their medium
sized business. They are a Medical Research company, which has 5 offices in the Florida panhandle
supporting 8,000 active and archived patient records, which have recently been converted to an electronic
format. Since the patient records hold HIPAA and PII information, security of those records is key. Additionally,
many of the records are for active patients participating in drug testing studies, and loss of data greater than 24
hours is not acceptable. This Disaster Recover solution must be capable of retaining all archive records, and 6
months of active patient records, and reconstitution at their emergency office in Kentucky needs to be
performed within 72 hours of a disaster.
Research:
- Research and choose a Disaster Recovery solution that can be implemented and managed by your IT team.
- Find three or more additional sources which provide reviews for (a) your chosen product or (b) information
about Disaster Recovery/Backup Solutions.
Instruction:
Write a two to three page summary of your research. At a minimum, your summary must include the following: - An introduction or overview for the Disaster Recovery solution.
- A review of the features, capabilities, and deficiencies for your selected vendor and product
- Discussion of how the selected product could be used by your client to support its cyber security objectives
by reducing risk, increasing resistance to threats/attacks, decreasing vulnerabilities, etc. - Address security issues using standard terms (e.g. 5 Pillars IA, 5 Pillars Information Security).
