How to how write clearly about a process related to or used in your field.

In this assignment, you will learn how to how write clearly about a process related to or used in your field. A process explains how something works or happens in a way that is more detailed than instructions. Processes are usually written in paragraph form. but may use bullet points and other conventions; as well. The key things to remember about writing processes is that they have to be clear, logically organized and easy to follow, understandable, and usable. STEP 1. Determine who your audience is and what your purpose is. For example; I might be writing about how to run a series of chemical tests or analyses. or the process involved in selecting a site for a road or development. or the process of intake; assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a client in a counseling clinic. STEP 2. What does my audience need to know; when does my audience need to know it, and how does my audience need that information? Example, my audience needs to know the quickest safest route out of the danger zone; my audience needs this information immediately; my audience needs a map of the area with clearly marked routes; road signs and landmarks to be able to get out of the area. STEP 3. Do background research to either learn details about the process. See what others have written about it and how they have written about it. Then synthesize and begin writing the instructions or process in your own words. Optional. If you have done this task before; or you know this process inside out, then you may skip to STEP 4. STEP 4. What is the order by which the process occurs? What must be discussed first, second, third and so on. STEP 5. Decide on the design/formatting for your instructions or process and set it up. In this case, you will have some sort of title. You may use headings and subheadings, bullet points; graphics, etc. STEP 6. Writing the process. Look up 6 examples of the process explanation online. Read them, then without looking at them, write down the process in as much detail as you can remember from the top of your head. Afterward, go back and reread them, then fill in the blanks from the top of your head as much as possible. (This will keep you from plagiarizing.) YOU WILL NOT QUOTE, but you will cite any sources in your paper. STEP 7. Usability test and revise. Have a roommate or friend read your instructions or process to see if the explanation makes sense and is easy to follow. Have your reader evaluate the structure/ organization of the process; the paragraph and sentence structure, language/word choice; and
