How physics is part of your everyday life

You’re going to write three articles about three different topics in physical science. The purpose of this project is for you to explore how physics is part of your everyday life, from campus architecture to news to media and beyond. The framing of this project is like a blog, thus, the audience is the physics-interested general public.

News ● Find a news article from 2019 that connects to a physics concept you have learned about in class. Scan the article or print the webpage to PDF. ● Describe how the news story relates to a topic from class. The description must include a summary of the summary of the focus of the article, identify the relevant physics concept, and discuss the relationship between the news topic and the physics concept.

Media ● Select a clip from a movie, TV show, or similar media designed for a popular audience (e.g., NOT a show designed to explore science like Cosmos or Mythbusters) that demonstrates a physics concept you have learned about in class. Figure out how you will communicate this clip to Dr. Guthrie (e.g., provide a YouTube link, make a video of your TV screen, etc.) ● Describe how the clip relates to the physics concept. The description must include a summary of the aspects of the clip that are essential for understanding the application of physics concept, a discussion of the physics concept, and a conclusion about the correctness of the physics demonstrated (e.g., did the filmmaker obey or stretch the laws of physics?).

Creative ● Let your imagination be your guide. What creative means can you use to communicate physics concepts to the general public? What creative places do you see physics in your day-to-day life? Examples include but are not limited to: create an art piece; create a storyboard; analyze an existing art piece. ● Describe how the selected medium relates to the physics concept. The description must include a summary of the aspects of the selected media that are essential for understanding the selected physics concept and the physics displayed
