These are the requirements:
- The paper should feature of review of the state of the current academic literature on
your topic: what do scholars write about and how does your research question relate
to this? - The paper should an explanation of concepts, theories or methods you might be using
in your argument and how you are employing them. - The paper should present an evidence-based argument that engages with academic
debates, possibly drawing on primary or original sources. This paper should not simply
be a digest of current events or an op-ed opinion piece. The paper should be argumentative, so not descriptive. - The paper needs to make use of an extensive amount of trustworthy academic sources.
I want an essay about the following question: "How have states facilitated or hindered the growth of jihadism in proxy arenas in the Middle East over the last 20 years". I have kept this quite broad so that the writer can use their own insights and creative skills to choose a direction/theory to apply. It needs to have a literature review part in it and needs to make a logical and coherent argument, backed up by academic sources in Chicago style (author-date-page in text citation + bibliography). In order to make this topic concrete, a case study using the theory would be adviseable.
