Description
- Introduction Paragraph: The overall argument you will make will be the first and most important part of the paper. Present your argument by
answering the following question: How effective can films teach
American history? The rest of the paper must provide evidence that backs up your overall argument. - Feature Films paragraphs: Spend one paragraph for each feature film we watched in class. Talk about how effective each of the feature films was in presenting history. Give specific examples. What are some advantages and disadvantages of teaching history through feature films?
- Documentaries Paragraph: Spend a paragraph talking about how effective the documentaries we watched in the class were in presenting history. Give specific examples. What are some advantages and disadvantages of
teaching history through documentaries? - Additional feature films or documentaries paragraph(s): Using feature
films or documentaries that you have personally seen outside of class, give
at least two examples (at least two is required here: any combination of
feature films or documentaries will work but you must at least one
paragraph for each film) talking about how effective those films were in
presenting history. Give specific examples. - Comparing films with other historical sources paragraph: In this paragraph, students will answer the following question: Are sources besides films (books, articles, newspapers, etc.) better tools when it comes to teaching history? How so? Are they better because they are more traditional and trustworthy? Or are these sources less trustworthy than films? Are they biased? How so?
- Conclusion Paragraph: In your conclusion, you will present your overall
the argument again and add some concluding thoughts of your own. - References Page: List each of the sources you used to write your paper.
