“how does setting affect the analysis and treatment of elopement?” This study also compares the effectiveness of noncontingent reinforcement (NCR) in attention-based and tangible-based interventions (Lang et al., 2010). The subject of the study was a 4-year old student named Joe who displayed elopement behavior. Researchers conducted two functional analyses; one in a classroom setting and the other in a resource room. Escape, tangible, attention and play conditions were established with each one lasting five mins. Instances of elopement were higher in the classroom during the tangible condition, but higher in the attention setting in the resource room (Lang et al., 2010).
