Reflecting on My Learning
This week, I learned a great deal about the changes that are taking place in healthcare and how these changes are affecting nurses’ ability to provide person-centered, holistic care. I also learned about the concept of cultural humility and how it can be applied to nursing practice.
Changes in Healthcare and Person-Centered, Holistic Care
The healthcare landscape is constantly changing, and these changes can have a significant impact on nurses’ ability to provide person-centered, holistic care. For example, the shift to value-based care has led to increased pressure on nurses to meet certain metrics and outcomes. This can make it difficult for nurses to spend the time necessary to build relationships with patients and to provide them with the individualized care that they need.
