Write an essay on what kind of history, dealing with the period 1000-1800, you think would be most desirable and valuable to you. Make an argument concerning why all people or a group of people should bother to read your kind of history. What can the target audience learn from this kind of history and why would this knowledge be useful? Illustrate with concrete topics and examples from this period 1000-1800. Situate your argument within a description of what you think are the biases (perspectives, emphases) of the history education that you have received so far. As you are writing think of yourself in terms of who is writing to whom, when, where and why? and make this knowledge implicitly part of your work.
