“Hero’s journey”

Gilgamesh undertakes the quintessential “hero’s journey” which shows up in stories worldwide, both ancient and modern. Analyze his quest to attain immortality within the context of the archetypal hero’s journey citing many examples from the poem itself to build your argument. It will be helpful to use the work of Joseph Campbell and his book The Hero With a Thousand Faces as well as the video The Power of Myth in which Campbell is interviewed about the hero in literature down through the ages.
