Patient information that moves with the patient electronically to the specialist, the hospital, or across the country is more promising than patient information that does not ‘travel’. Thus, interoperable record keeping is our goal within the healthcare sector. It is essential to understand both the similarities and the differences of the Electronic health records (EHRs) and Electronic medical record (EMRs) in order to identify the value that each may bring to the continuum of healthcare delivery.
For the purpose of sorting the information, please use table provided (shared after the rubric) to compare and contrast the content/purpose and function of both EMRs and EHRs within utilized in various health and human services settings.
