Having kids be immoral

Laura M. Purdy : Genetics and Reproductive Risk: Can Having Children be Immoral? In this paper, the writer discusses that in some cases, to give birth or have children is immoral. Laura M. Purdy argues that it is morally wrong to reproduce when other individuals know that there is a high risk of passing on a serious disease to the child or having birth defects. Purdy mentions that this can be prevention through means of abortion of by preventing contraception. She emphasizes that conception is permissible to those who are willing to undergo prenatal screening and selective abortion. If one does not have the will to do so, Purdy believes that then it is wrong for one to conceive a child.
