Order Description
ASSIGNMENT INTRODUCTION
Hallmark Care Homes is a well-known brand. It was founded in 1997. It is a family run
provider of multi-award winning care homes. They own 15 care homes across
England and South Wales (Hallmark Care Homes, 2017). They are recognised in
the industry for providing high-quality care and outstanding, innovative facilities
(Hallmark Care Homes, 2017).
The Admiral Court Care Home is registered to provide a service to elderly people,
younger adults as well as people with sensory impairments, mental health conditions
and dementia. As of July 2016, 60 people living in the service (Hallmark Care
Homes, 2017).
An inspection was carried out by Care Quality Commissions in one of their care
homes in July 2016, Admiral Court Care Home. They rated that the overall services
provided by the home require improvements (Cqc.org.uk, 2016).
Please find below some of the comments of Care Quality Commission’s view from
the inspection report (Cqc.org.uk, 2016).
? At Admiral Court Care Home service users were not always protected against
the risks associated with medicines because the registered manager did not
have appropriate arrangements in place to manage medicines safely. Not all
people felt safe and there were not always effective systems in place to
reduce the risk and spread of infection.
? Service was not always effective. Improvements were required to ensure that
staff's training was effective and good practice was embedded through their
everyday practices with people who used the service.
? Service was not always responsive to people's needs. Service users were not
always engaged in meaningful activities. Not all people's care records were
sufficiently detailed or accurate.
? There was a lack of managerial oversight of the service as a whole. The
quality assurance system was not effective because it had not identified the
areas of concern and there were no plans in place to address them.
