German Psychology & American Psychology

  1. German Psychology – Using the Cattell (1888) article, describe the importance work done by Wundt and his
laboratory. Explain what Wundt’s unique contributions were and why they earn him the status of the father of
modern psychology. Also, describe three of the general areas of research that Cattell states were done in the
laboratory (not specific studies; generally what were the topics and what do they mean?).
  2. Schools of American Psychology -- Explain the two schools of thought from the Titchener (1898) article
(using only the article as a source). What was the biology analogy and what does it mean? Also, according to
Titchener, what were the elements of consciousness and what were the attributes of those elements? Be sure
to explain what each element and attribute is and given an example.
  3. You must accurately cite your references both in the text and include all references in a reference section
(you must have a reference section).
