Genetics and Genomics Presentation

Evidence continues to proliferate about the importance of genetics and genomics in disease and public health. Nurses, being front line caregivers, must be able to understand and respond to the new genetic and genomic discoveries and concepts as they evolve.

Instructions

Using the most current Essential Genetic and Genomic Competencies for Nurses with Graduate Degrees in addition to other professional sources, the student will create a 15–20-slide PowerPoint presentation (including the title and reference slides) in current APA format. The presentation should be aimed at informing your peers of the concepts discussed in the Essential Genetic and Genomic Competencies for Nurses with Graduate Degrees document. Application to a genomic/genetic risk factor or condition should also be included. The presentation should use the notes section of PowerPoint to keep slides readable. Slides should be visually appealing, including interesting graphics to support the slide’s content. The student must include a minimum of 5 peer-reviewed journal articles written within the past 5 years.
