What is gender? What is a girl? What is a woman?
We have been working in the Discussion Board on the question “What is a woman?” What makes someone a woman, and hence, up for study in Psychology of Women? How much of being a woman is a result of the ways in which a person has been treated by a world who views her as female? And how much is within the person herself, independent of the world around her? At what point does a person become a woman? Examining these questions, we are informed by the stories of women who were not girls; and girls who don’t become women.
